The shallow nature of the loch makes for rich feeding as the waters warm quickly and generate heavy fly life. Caution must be exercised as old tree roots can catch out the unwary. The loch is well known for its big fish which feed predominately at night on the old riverbed course. Larger than normal flies can be used and Pennels, Invicta and Wickhams do well.. |

Butterstone Loch is a 120 acre fishery based in the beautiful heart of Perthshire approximately 15 miles from Perth and 8 from Blairgowrie. Set in an area of outstanding scenic beauty being flanked one side by the Loch of Lowes nature reserve and on the other by woods and hills. Ospreys, which nest locally, regularly show up the fishermen, and otters are occasionally seen along with a wide section of fauna and flora. So for the less dedicated angler there is usually plenty to see. |
